The Obama guide to parenting
An excellent article on how the incoming first family parent’s their children can be found here.
Among the guidelines found in the article:
- Discipline
- Be involved
- Keep routines
- Carve out couple time
- Never underestimate the power of Grandma
- Be in touch
- Protect the kid’s privacy
- Read to your kids
- No spoiling
- Play together
- Teach them to help those who are less fortunate
- Keep it casual
If you and your spouse find that you have differing parenting styles a mediator can help you to find common ground to present a united front to your kids and keep them from playing one of you against the other.
