What is Time Sharing?

Positive Negative

Time Sharing is the arrangement between parents having joint physical custody for sharing physical custody of the children. This may be accomplished in any number of ways including:

Split-time Custody: The children live with each parent for a short period of time, say one week, and the children move between the parent's households.

Block-time Custody: The children live with each parent for a specified large "block" of time. For example, the children may reside with one parent during the school year and the other parent during the summer.

Nesting Custody (or Bird's Nesting Custody): In this case it is the parents rather than the children who move between households. The children remain in the "nest" and the parents take turns moving in and out of the residence.
